Casa Elwina is an alone standing house within a garden of about 600 square metres. The garden, situated on a slope, is terraced with walls and steps of granite as it is the custom in Ticino. You will find a beautiful range of Ticino plants, from small to big, i.e. from cyclamen, azalea, hydrangea, camellia, magnolia, rhododendron, grapevine (if you are there in august, please help yourself), oleander up to palms and fig trees. Even a tea bush from the famous Monte Verita is growing.
Of course a special highlight is when in spring the camellias are in blossom, but actually there is nearly always from March till October (sometimes even starting in January) something blooming. In October and November we love the autumn colours and the smell of Ticino with its sweet chestnuts and mushrooms, mixed up with the smell of the fireplaces. If you love smells and cooking with herbs, feel free to look in the garden for various kinds of sage, rosemary, thyme and lavender. Help yourself!
